Lunch to go

Monday, Sept. 22
The Floating Market
Journal Entry #28

This vacation feels like it's never going to end.  We're in the bus again on our way to the floating market.  It's Monday morning, which means there's traffic.  Here's a glimpse of today's traffic report.

Shanty towns right outside of Bangkok.

Journal Entry #29
Typical House

On the way to the floating market, we made a 'happy room' stop at a typical Thai person's house.  I'm convinced that if you're an animal lover, Thailand is the place for you to retire.  It seems like you can have any kind of pet you want.  This house housed two monkeys, a snake, two squirrels, several dogs, a cat, a bunch of different birds and I'm not sure what else.

Journal Entry #30
Lunch is served

So far each boat ride I've taken has been well worth it.  Not only is it relaxing but it allows you a quick look into the lives of people.

How's this for a garage?

Even if a river runs through it, a house is not a house
unless there's a spirit house to protect it.

Markets along the river.

Ritche and I decide to grab a bite to eat before it floats away.

He places an order.

She mixes up the dry goods.

Adds the broth and noodles.

Hands over the bowl of goods.

Ready to eat.

This is where the dirty dishes end up. I never saw anyone washing them though.

Sticky rice and mango to top off our meal.

While eating my bowl of noodles, I spied a transaction happening a boat away.  If you're wondering how things make it across boats, here's how it works.

The vendor says, "Look at my sandals. So pretty."

"What color do you like?"

"Here, try these on."

"You like? Okay, great!"

"Here you go, enjoy!"

I also spied our Patty buying friend banana.
